Birth dates
What is my Chinese zodiac sign by birthday?
If you were born in January or early February, enter your full birthday. Fengshui Forever changes the everyday zodiac animal at Lunar New Year, not January 1. A year-only lookup can give the wrong answer near that date.
Before and after Lunar New Year
In 2024, Lunar New Year fell on February 10. Under the convention used for the everyday animal in Fengshui Forever:
- A February 9, 2024 birthday belongs to the Rabbit year.
- A February 10, 2024 birthday belongs to the Dragon year.
- A January 15, 2024 birthday is also in the Rabbit year.
The Hong Kong Observatory's 2024 calendar marks February 10 as the first day of the lunar year. The animal is one part of a Chinese zodiac comparison for two people.
Why might another chart give a different animal?
Some traditional year-pillar readings turn the year at Lichun, or Beginning of Spring. In 2024, that fell on February 4, six days before Lunar New Year on February 10. A February 5 birthday is Rabbit for the everyday animal in Fengshui Forever and can have a Dragon year pillar in a spring-boundary chart.
Why the two labels?
The everyday zodiac animal and a spring-boundary year pillar follow different conventions. If another chart names a different animal for an early-February birthday, check whether it uses Lunar New Year or Lichun.
Fengshui Forever points out when the conventions differ. See how the app uses the animal in a two-person reading, or read the Dragon and Rooster example.
